"You can bend it and twist it, you can misuse and abuse it, but even God cannot change the truth." - Michael Levy. The concept of truth is hard to understand because many people abuse it. Truth is rare and takes courage. You need to have respect and trust in your peers. You need to have self convidence to be able to tell the truth. Stand up for what you believe is right, even if it might get you in trouble. Truth is wise and the truth is difficult to tell. "The truth is rarely pure and never simple." - Oscar Wilde. I feel that if you truly love someone and respect them and have dignity, you will tell them the truth, good or bad. The truth leads to many hardships, miscommunications, and frustration. Most people are afraid to tell the truth because it will reveal who they really are. Everyone tries to be someone they are not and if they tell the truth they might lose their popular identity. Their mask to hide behind. It is difficult in this world to be your true self because everyone is judgemental. Individuals are looked down upon because they are different from the "normal" people. To find the truth you have to look deep within you, however sometimes the truth is hard to find. "All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them." - Galileo Galilei. While you are looking for the truth inside you, you find out who you are. You find out what makes you unique and special from every other person in this world. "The search for truth is more precious than its possession." - Albert Einstein.
Truth is accordance with facts, experience, and the way things happen in reality, not the way they were perceived to happen, especially if they NEVER happened.
However, the truth is not always so clear. People may regard something as true although others may not. Everyone will always have their own personal truths.
Truth is not only violated by falsehood; it may be equally outraged by silence.
-Henri Frederic Amiel-
Truth is whatever you believe in. Truth is a fact that has been verified. Truth is an agreement to reality or actuality. Truth is accuracy: the quality of being near to the true value. “It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.” ~Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia. We do not lie because the truth is hard to see. It is many times as clear as glass. We lie because this is more comfortable. It is important to be true to yourself. People need to live by what we believe to be true. We have true feelings, true beliefs, and true morals. We need to be true to the people we care about. Do not hide events in our lives from important people. Be sincere in all you do. The truth is almost always harder to face than a lie. Lying is covering up your truths from other people. It is impossible to lie to yourself, because within your heart you will always know the truth. Some people try to run from the truth to make a situation easier for them. It may sound like a cheesy line from a movie, but I believe the truth really will always be revealed. I, myself, believe in God as a catholic Christian and to me, God is truth. He always wants us to tell the truth, preach the truth, and live the truth. Truth is a legit statement that is appropriate to the situation that is occurring. I am not perfect; I will not always tell the truth, but I know trustworthiness is an important trait to have. When I tell the truth, it is easier for others to trust me and the same goes for them.
The truth can be subject to controversy as far as what is truth and what is not. The definition of truth can change from person to person. An example of this is religion. There are hundreds of religions in the world, and each believes their religion is the real truth. Therefore each religion's definition of truth will differ.
I googled this question hoping to find some insightful quotes from well known icons to discuss. Of course i wasn't that lucky. I got a basic definition from Webster " a judgment, proposition, or idea that is true or accepted as true" and "being in accord with fact or reality." One christian site had the title "What is Truth and Does it Matter?" And honestly, does it matter? We want truth to be a comfort. If you confront a cheating spouse, and they admit to their infidelity, you would be devastated, but you would find comfort that you finally knew the truth, even though it was the truth that made you miserable. Is truth really the best thing? Most of the time, it just makes people miserable, or angry. When the theory of evolution came out, a majority of people refused to accept it, even though there were scientific studies to back up the theory. So,if something pushes us out of our comfort zone, we refuse to accept it as truth. At the beginning of this post, I was asking myself "is there such thing as a real truth, and if so how can i explain that concept?" But there is no real, solid truth. If there was, we'd all know it and believe it to be true. Therefore, truth can only be defined by what we choose to accept. If i say "I love you" but you don't buy it, it's only my truth, but not yours.
Webster's definition mentioned "an idea that is accepted"and "being in accord with reality" proving again that truth is what you accept, and reality is your own perception of the world. There cannot be a general "true", only an individual "true", if you even count that as truth at all.
I believe that truth is just an idea that the general public agrees to be fact. for instance, some people believe that we did not land on the moon in 1969, however the vast majority of people believe that we did, so we teach in schools that the truth is we did indeed go to the moon. truth can only be gauged by the person that knows the whole truth, which still is inaccurate because even the beholder of truth can lie about the truth thus making the accepted truth one big lie. for example, government conspiracies work because not one person knows the exact truth about subject x and perhaps the government would like to keep it that way so they tell the public about the subject in a false way and then we all accept the lie as truth. so I believe that in the end there is no truth because no one tells the truth. Also we don't know about other people and their lives and actions and how that would effect an event, so while we think we might understand a subject we really don't because we don't understand the person or what they perceive the truth as. this is why any system that depends on human dependability is undependable, such as the U.S. legal system, many innocent people are put away every day because no one knows the truth but they know the lies people told and have their own bias. so in the end, there is no truth which is why it is hard to say what exactly truth is.

Prescott
“When in doubt, tell the truth.” –Mark Twain. When Mark Twain said this he proposed that only the truth will be correct. There is only one truth in a situation. The people who witnessed this situation know the truth. Anybody else that hears about that situation does not know the truth simply because they were not there and not everybody tells the truth. People may lie about something to take the blame off of them. This is why truth is such a difficult topic to discuss.
A guarantee is not the truth. Say a store owner approaches me and says that he guarantees he has the best cake in town. I, however, believe that my mom makes the best cake in town. Who in this situation is telling the truth, the store owner or me? The answer is neither of us solely for the reason that these are our opinions. Not everybody has the same opinion so therefore it cannot be the truth. The truth can only be something that one knows what happened and that had a firsthand experience with it. Guarantees are only as good as the people who say them.
When Andre Gide said “Believe those who are seeking the truth, doubt those who find it,” he thought that people who have accepted something said by a person are doubtful. Even though the people who are seeking the truth will truly never be able to uncover it, they would be much more honest than a person who has accepted it. This is because the seeker is not satisfied for anything that may be a lie. Even though some of us may never know the truth, it will always be better to search for it than rather accept somebody’s belief of it.
Truth is what raw facts are left once a statement has been stripped of all personal bias and emotion. When what is left can be neither disputed nor disproved, you have the truth. However, true truth is nearly impossible to uncover because nearly every situation is tainted by human perception, which is often startlingly inaccurate. Because actual truth is so rare, we often settle for as close as we can get. In many situations we are able to come close to the truth by checking facts and stories. In many instances this “near truth” is good enough to suit our needs, and some in some situations truth is easier found than others. Discovering truths in scientific situations, for example, is much easier than truths regarding human behavior. Scientific truths can be determined by experimentation and observation and written into undisputable laws. Human behavior, on the other hand, is independent to each individual and the truth is constantly obstructed by emotion. Every person collects memories and information from past experiences and the continuously cloud their ability to see the facts.
When it comes down to it, people must rely on their own judgments to decide what is wrong and right. An actual truth will rarely be unanimously agreed upon because everyone has their own theories and opinions. Truth is as confusing as it is rare, so when you find one, appreciate it and learn from it. It is understandable that the real truth cannot be found in every situation and that it is even impractical to look for it at times, but people should always strive to remove personal prejudices and try to discover the truth.
The word “truth” is defined in the dictionary as a true or actual state of a matter or a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, or principle.
The dictionary is, of course, very correct in this statement, it is a truth, but I don't think that it is necessarily the only kind of truth.
A couple of years ago, my aunt said to me "perception is reality". Ever since then, I have thought about it, but not been able to dispute the somewhat confusing statement. The way that a person sees something, or their own perception, leads them to believe a certain thing as a truth, or their own reality. To give an example, if someone were to see a group of people pointing, whispering and laughing at them, they would most likely assume that the group of people is making fun of them, perhaps calling them a hurtful name or talking about them behind their back. Their own perception of the behavior is their own truth. In a different reality and under a different perception, the group of people could have just been telling a funny, and not at all hurtful, story about the person, or maybe not even talking about that particular person at all.
In conclusion, I believe there are definitely two kinds of truth. There are mathematical-like truths, like 2 + 2 = 4 and other indisputable facts, but also subjective-like truths, based on one's very own perception of a situation or experience.
Who is my blog expert? Let's try to do something with this on Thursday.
Truth
What is truth? Truth can be defined by many words. When I saw this question the first thing I thought of was, “what is right,” whether it be saying or telling what’s right or simply just doing it. Factual is another word that I thought of right away, if something is a fact or true it has no false or untrue parts. Something considered to be true has nothing wrong or false about it, it is one hundred percent true. I believe truth needs the high principles and needs to be one hundred percent true. To tell the truth you also need honesty ensuring that it is, in fact, true. Honesty comes with telling the truth in everything you do. This includes telling the truth when you are in trouble, and when you are confessing what you did wrong; even when you don’t want to, or you don’t want to be seen as a dishonest person. A thing some people don’t realize is that people respect someone telling the truth. Even if you did do something wrong, people will applaud you for facing the fact that you did something wrong and want to change it. When you tell the truth, trust comes from this. People are able to put your wrong doing behind them and trust you for doing the right thing. To do this you must realize truth starts with the fact that no matter what the situation, you must take the high road and say or do what’s right. Truth will get you closer to people and respect will develop between you and others. Truth can be explained in many ways, but I see it as saying or doing what’s right and being honest at all times, despite what others might think.

When pondering the question, what is truth? Galieo's words help one to try to understand the meaning of this small, yet intriguing word. He discusses about discovering the truth and that the adventure of discovering it is in that journey. I agree with his words on the topic of truth for multiple reasons. Anybody could tell you that something is the truth, but that does not mean they fully understand what they are telling you. The only way that someone is going to be able to learn the actual truth is if they try to find and discover it themselves.
The word truth has been defined as “a verified or indisputable fact.” But the word truth and the actual truth itself are two completely different things. There are scientific and mathematical truths such as two plus two equals four. And there are social and every day truths that deal with friendships, family and relationships. These are the kinds of truth that are often easily stretched. Because truth surrounds us everywhere, it can be experienced every day. The truth can be good, bad, over exaggerated, and completely ignored. However, it is up to the people experiencing and living it, whether to believe it or not.
In conclusion, truth is going out and trying to learn and understand something that is new or strange to you. It is, as Galileo said, discovering something that you do not fully understand. Without research and learning, nobody would be able to tell fact from fiction or truth from lies. The truth about truth is that it is something that cannot be touched, seen, smelt, or tasted. Truth is learning, discovering, and believing. So go out and discover it!

The dictionary definition of the word "Truth" is conformity with fact or reality. However, many people can define truth in many ways. What is true to one may not always be true to another. For example some people with red hair are prone to having fair skin, while others can be easily bronzed or "kissed" by the sun. Truth is also a quality. It is a quality that not many people carry because it is not always easy to be truthful. Sometimes a lie is easier to give than the truth. If the truth were going to hurt someone why would anyone want to give it? Truth has no actual definition, everyone has his or her own way of being truthful or describing what is true and what is not.
Truth is fact. Although opinions can be true, the opinion must be factual to be considered true. I believe Abraham Lincoln stated it best when he said, "How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four; calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg." Truth can be altered with other truth and remain true, but take advantage of alteration and your previous truth may now be a lie. Truth doesn't care if people believe it or not, it is what it is.
Truth can also be a quality. If someone is truthful, they tend to be honest and blunt. This isn't to say a truthful person doesn't lie, it simply means they cover their lies with fact. This is what we call "bending the truth." However, it is essential to ask yourself if a bent truth is still true at all. This is a matter of opinion.
Truthful statements may only be true for a short period of time. Saying your favorite color is green may be true until you start liking pink more. Does this truth turn to lie, or does it only exist at the time of the statement? Truthful facts can change with time, but truth itself will always be fact. And that, my friends, is the truth!

Truth is what people have accepted to be correct or right. Truth is also known as facts. To me, truth is honesty and I respect people for telling the truth. Often times it can be easier to tell a lie, especially when you have done something wrong. However if you are honest and tell the truth about what really happened you will be better off in the future. Lies can only dig you into a deeper hole, truth is what can save you.
Truth is a statment of what has happend. Bending the truth even a little bit makes it a lie. Telling the truth is an exact way of feeling or action. Sometimes when we lie, we take little bits of the truth ( not the stuff we are embarassed to say or don't want to say) so we can say it with confidence. Truth is a hard concept for most people to belive. An exsample of this is when we tell our parents we are going to spend the night at a friends house. Most parents don't really belive that there child is indeed going to that friends house. Instead( since truth is abused more that used) the parents belive that their child is going to a party or to some boy/girls house. Sometimes we exaggerate the truth, making things seem better/ worse than what they are.Sometimes this happens on accident. Sometimes it's intended. It is usually easy to pick the truth apart from the exaggeration. For exsample someone saying that they killed a bear with there own eyes would really mean that they just killed a bear, not with there eyes but with a weapon.I find truth a beliveable and unbelivable. In the end truth really depends on the circumstances.
Truth. It is a short, but yet very complex word. People base their live around this world. They build friendships, enemies, love, relationships, jobs, and allies off truth. The dictionary definition for truth is: the true or actual state of a matter, conformity with fact or reality, a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, or principle, actuality or actual existence, an obvious or accepted fact. Although this is a LONG definition, you have to imagine the trouble of defining this word. Many people interpret the word differently. I, myself interpret truth with the words: honesty & integrity. In my point of view; you can tell how a person really is by if they are afraid to show the "truth of themselves". Being truthful, or not lying, is a very important characteristic to me. “The truth is rarely pure and never simple.” -Oscar quotes. This quote to me shows how difficult, but necessary it is to tell the truth. It is the way people conceive you as a person. Everyone does, or should respect a truthful person. Truth is real & important.
-Ashley Herman
Truth, some words that come to my mind when this is said is honesty, trusting, brave. These are all very strong words that can be hard to live up to. Which is why some people have such a hard time telling the truth. Truth is a very complicated thing. Sometimes the truth is not always clear and we can hurt the ones that we care about the most. The truth can hurt because it may not be what we want to hear and we know that it can mean the end of something that we never wanted to let go of, but the truth is the most important thing that a person can have. However, the truth can be a good thing too. If the truth is what we want it to be it could have tremendous effects. For a person accused of a crime they didn't commit and someone came forward with the truth, that accused person would now be free. There are different ways to tell the truth. It could be if you are telling the truth about how you feel, or the truth about how an event happened, or what how a certain situation occurred. The truth should be how you feel or what actually happened. Some people can't be trusted with the truth because the have either twisted it or made false statements. Now you never know if you can trust what they are saying or not. The truth is a very powerful thing, it can build legacies or it can destroy what everybody has come to believe.
Truth has many different meaning to me. There is the obvious difinition that truth is a fact that has been verified. But i look beyond that alot of the time as im sure many other poeple do also. At our age in high school truth comes to us and is important to us in different ways then to an adult. For us we find ourselvs looking for the truth in our friends alot. You will ask friends, "did she really say that about me?" "I cant believe she did that." "Did they really break up and why?" I hear these almost everyday. But truth also has to do alot with yourself. I think you understand the meaning of truth alot more as an adult. When i was a kid and my mom asked me if i hit my sister first, i would of probably lied and said no. But as we get older we see why telling the truth is easier and turnes out better in the end. The truth may not always be easy to tell and you may have consequences from telling the truth but in the end you will feel better.
We know the truth, not only by the reason, but also by the heart.- that is a famous quote by Blaise Pascal. This quote basically says it all wrapped up into one sentence. There are two truths in the world, logical and personal. The is logical truth consists of facts, such as knowing that grass is green, and two plus two is four. The other truth is personal, and this means holding things true to yourself.
Logical truth means facts, such as the fact that Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun. It means something that can be proven by visual or physical evidence. It’s something that can’t be wrong, like a math or science equation that just always seem to lead to the right answer. Logical truth usually doesn’t consist of opinions, because opinions differ so much from person to person. For example, just because I think that God is real, and Demi doesn’t, doesn’t make either of us right. That’s our opinions and sometimes people’s opinions can’t be persuaded and just because we both think differently, doesn’t make either of us wrong. Which leads me to my other kind of truth, and that’s personal truth.
Personal truths are things that you hold true to yourself, these are things that even though they may seem wrong to other people, they are right to you. These usually involve your personal opinions or beliefs. Perhaps sometimes they can have some facts behind them, but most of the time these personal truths are something between you and yourself. I personally think that personal truth is more important. We can all learn and live by facts, but if you’re not true to yourself who can you really be true to then?
By definition truth is the true or actual state of matter. However, when the word truth comes to mind it is often associated with its antonym, a lie. In a perfect world it seems that the line between the truth and a lie would be black and white, but that is not always the case. There are always shades of gray that blend the two together. To me the truth of something should be based on proven facts without bias opinions. Emotions and feelings have a way of influencing what is actually true though. From a young age most people are taught right from wrong, and that telling the truth is the right thing to do. But what about those times when a lie is twisted so drastically that is transforms into a truth. It is very easy to convince yourself and create a truth out of a lie. Basically, the truth depends on the perspective of the beholder. In theory the truth should be simple and easy to detect from a lie, but in reality outside influences are experts at hiding and covering up the truth. Knowing this all someone can truly do to make sure the truth is right is by being truthful to you as well as to others. By staying “true” anything is possible and life becomes less complicated. After all, one lie leads to another lie, which leads to a dishonest life. Be honest with yourself and the truth will always follow.

The truth… It is so hard to define because the world we live in is filled with lies. The truth can not change. It can not be stretched. It stays the same. The truth has no lie in the depth of it. Every word from that truth is accurate, valuable, and promising. Everyday people are looking for the truth under all the lies that have pilled up. Truth can bring happiness as well as sadness. But we must live with the truth. We can tell lies without people knowing the truth. But we can not lie to ourselves because deep inside we know what really happened. We tend to lie to hide the truth because it may be hurtful to us or someone else. But what happened can not be taken back. We have to live with the decisions we make and not hide the truth from ourselves or anyone else. Sometimes it may be scary or sometimes it may be sad but in the end we feel more comfort in ourselves because we have nothing to hide. “If you tell the truth you don’t have to remember anything.” –Mark Twain. When we lie we have to remember a story that is not real in or minds. But when we speak the truth all the facts are obvious. “It makes all the difference in the world whether we put truth in the first place, or in the second place.” –John Morley. Truth must come first; this way there will be no need for lies.
Dictonary.com states that truth is the state or character of being true. This to me, is a very vague definition. What is truth? Is there a yes or no answer to the fact of something being true or not? Why do people choose to lie to others? Are the liars scared of the truth? Liars are scared of what the reaction will be if they tell the truth, maybe they will get in trouble, or are embarrassed of what another will think of the truth. Hiding the truth from someone strains a relationship. Will you find out the truth in the end?
There are the straight facts, but I think that the more meaningful “truth” is much deeper. We know the truth, not only by the reason, but also by the heart. ~Blaise Pascal. We as humans are constantly seeking for answers. Simple answers, but also much deeper truths. These answers are different for everyone. Some people might find truth in a religion, and others find truth in family and friends. Is one truth better than another? Truth can be completely wrong to one person, but the way of life to another. I always ask myself “what is the meaning of life?” in that question I am searching for truth. My answer may be different than someone else’s, but until I find the answer I will not know the truth.
Truth is a hard thing to explain, and maybe we cannot explain it because we have not found it yet. Chase after the truth like all hell and you'll free yourself, even though you never touch its coattails.~ Clarence Darrow.

"The truth is rarely pure and never simple." ~ Oscar Wilde. In our world today, truth is somewhat sparse to come across. However, everyone wants truth. Its scarce nature and its desired attributes make truth very valued and preferred. People want to fully understand concepts and actions in their life. No one wants to be left in the dark on any issues. There are truths in science such as laws, like the law of conservation of mass. This law has been proven to be correct and truthful. However, truth is a very versatile word. Religions say it is true that there is a god. Despite the fact that people believe in gods, there existence has not been proven. It would be incorrect to call a strong belief truth. Religions and beliefs make the definition of truth difficult to define. Truth has to be proven time and time again. Truth is the pure and simple fact. Truth is never easy to comprehend. Sometimes it is hard to face the cold hard facts. Truth can be enlightening and bitter. Honesty goes hand in hand with truth. Being honest is the act of telling the truth, or the true events. It is uncommon to receive the whole truth. Part of a story may be true, but when it isn’t one hundred percent true, the whole story is flawed. In the end, truth is purely and simply the facts without any bias in the way. “The search for truth implies a duty. One must not conceal any part of what one has recognized to be true.” Albert Einstein. It’s never easy to find the truth or tell it. However, telling the truth is the most valuable asset we have. Anything that is in short supply has more value. This fact also makes truth one of our most valuable assets.

“You should know the truth and the truth shall make you mad” -Aldous Huxley. Everyone knows that the truth sometimes can hurt, so we lie for comfort or stability. This is not always necessary. The truth takes nerve to tell. The truth shows who you really are, which would explain why some people avoid it. To trust someone takes courage. You always have to be willing to take the risk of getting hurt. People lie to avoid conflict with someone. This can end in harmful ways but it might be worth the risk. I feel like if you truly love someone and are willing to be true to them, you will open up and tell them the truth. This is sometimes hard for people to do because it defines who they really are. Some hide behind fake identities and live a life of lies. The people who face this reality have a hard time being true to themselves. To trust others you have to trust yourself. You have to believe that you are the person god made you and love who you are. You have to be strong and brave and willing to take the risk. By doing this you can be true to others. You can trust them with your secrets and your true identity. When you find that you trust yourself, you will find out how you are unique in your own ways. You will see how special you are in your own ways and you will be willing to share this with others. The greatest enemy of any one of our truths may be the rest of our truths. ~William James
Truth takes courage, not only to tell but to hear as well. As we have all heard before, the truth hurts. It takes respect for yourself as well as others to tell and listen to the truth. Truth is often rarely told to avoid conflict or hurting someone else's feelings. So many times a lie is easier to tell than the truth. It does not take as much nerve and conflict, at the time, is often avoided. As Mark Twain once said, "If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything." A lie may solve the problem for a short amount of time but in the end a bigger lie will just accumulate from it. Perception on the truth often varies from person to person. Truth is an idea that can have many different meanings. Although this sounds like a contradiction truth can be perceived in many different ways. What some people believe is true may not be the same as what other people believe. Background and morals play a role in what people believe is true. A teacher can tell you a million times that something is true, or a fact, but if you do not believe in it then it is not going to be the truth to you. Much like opinions, truth comes from the heart. It takes courage to tell as well as to hear.
I believe that truth is well described by a quote from Oscar Wilde. “The truth is rarely pure, and never simple.” Truth is defiantly not simple. There are many different kinds of truths and the question “What is truth?” can be answered so many different ways. The first thing that I think of when I try to answer that question is… truth is not a lie. This type of truth would include things like facts. An example of this is “Gretchen Keene has brown hair.” This is a fact and it has truth to it. This may be the first type of truth that I thought of, but it is not the only one. Another is being true to yourself. This does include facts, but morals. Being true to your morals is doing the things you know in your heart are right. An example of this is not falling under peer pressure. When you are true to yourself you should feel happy because you know what you did was right. Truth also includes being a true friend. When you are a true friend you always want the best for your friend. A true friend does not have jealously toward their friend. Everyone wants a true friend because they use truth to obtain a great relationship with you. Truth is a very complex idea. From these examples I have concluded that an uncomplicated description of truth is “the right thing.” But in the words of Tony Blair, “The Truth is, you can’t go on forever.”
-Gretchen Keene
“A thing is not necessarily true because a man dies for it.” - Oscar Wilde. Many times this quote is true especially in the light of affairs between countries. During the time of a conflict between two or more opposing countries truth can be distorted. Naturally each country believes what they are arguing about is correct and the other countries are wrong. Each of the countries has their idea of truth about a situation. To defend their position war is often the only way to make their point clear.
Men fight and die to defend their country’s truth. The real question is though, what is the definition of a completely honest truth. I believe it’s an opinion based on one’s thoughts and beliefs. Based on my belief, in the end, it doesn’t really matter who’s truth is correct, because in the end sometimes all that matters is who has more fire power to force their truth over another.
Truth can be changed and mangled into many different things and still have some if not many people believe in it. Adolf Hitler is a prime example of this. Through speech, Hitler was able to convince millions into believing his truth. Though many found truth in his words, millions more strongly objected his words.
As simple as truth may seem, it is not always the case. There are many different viewpoints that have to be seen in order to find the real truth. Truth is not always what it seems to be.
-Charlie C.
Truth is always different in everyone's mind. The truth in my parents mind is always a lot different than the truth in my mind. Truth in my perspective is something you create in your own mind with ideas and memories of your own. You cannot go off of the truth from someone else.
a wise man once said "you can bend it and twist it..you can misuse it and abuse it..but even god cannot change the truth." The dictionary defines the truth "as the true or actual state of matter." I think that both of thesedefinitons expalin the truth in different ways. Truth can be dipicted in many ways. Truth can be what you believe which in most cases are not always true. Everyday poeple take the truth and bend or play with it.There are some truths that do not have the possibility and cannot be bent or twisted. The truths like 2+2=4 which will always be true and can never be changed. The facts are the only thing that will forever be the real truth.
"The truth is rarely pure and never simple" I dont know why people play with the truth but they forever will. Its amazing how people do it so easily. The truth is pure and is simple, but only if it is the true thruth. So many people change it and mess with it so the truth is no longer pure.
as children we are taught to never lie and always tell the truth. For some reason as we grow older we begin to believe that its okay to lie. It starts with little white lies and then it turns into lies that will better ourselves. sometimes when poepl tell lies, they themselves think its the truth.
I think in the end truth can be a number of things wether it be pure, simple, fake, or deciving. Its what people make the truth that defines it.
Truth is completely based on perception and in most cases is constantly changing. Take two different people, one is color blind and the other isn't. Have them both look at the grass and the normal person sees the color green while the color blind person sees the color blue. Is the color blind person wrong? To him, the grass really is blue as that is his perception. We can't say that he's wrong because what if everyone was color blind the same way he was? Then the TRUTH would be that grass is blue. It's all about perception. Take a historical example. To Roman citizens, the Empire was the greatest civilization in the world, the most civilized nation that all others should emulate. Then you take the Gauls who had their population devastated by the Romans, their land taken from them and their towns burned. To them the Roman Empire was a great evil to be destroyed, barbaric, power hungry, and corrupt. Who is right? What is the truth? Depending on who you ask you get different answers. Truth is based on perception, mostly by the victors, and we cannot be sure anything is the truth as advancements and new discoveries arrive daily. The only real truth is that THERE IS NO TRUTH, ONLY PERCEPTION!
“Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.” –Oscar Wilde. To me this quote says that people are afraid of being themselves. They are afraid of what people might think about them. Truth is giving people the opportunity to judge you. For this reason, the truth is rare. The emotions and feelings of people often influence what is actually true. People are so often afraid of how they might be judged it is hard for them to be honest. It takes courage to tell the truth. People use lies to hide themselves. But what is the truth when you have spent your entire life hiding from it? I believe that truth defines you. I cannot say that this truth will be accepted, and cannot say that it will be shunned either. Do the opinions of others really matter though? You should not feel obliged to succumb to the opinions of other people. You are your own individual. Being yourself is finding your own truth and not following the crowd. The hardest truth to tell is the one you tell yourself. Do not hide from yourself, live your life and live it truthfully. A lie you tell someone else is just a lie you told yourself. Lies are only a mask that people hide behind. I say let people let people judge me if it means that I can be myself. You find out not only who your true friends are, but also you find yourself. Truth should be much more appreciated because it is so rare. If someone tells you the truth, you know that they are showing you who they really are.
Truth is a simple idea that has been proven or believed to be a fact. Its very easy to turn a truth into a lie and sometimes a truth could even be stretched. Truth is what you believe in. On conterversial subjects truth can be argued and sometimes there is truth to both sides. For example on the issue of abortion there is pro life and pro choice. Both sides argue that theirs is the truth. But they also think that the other side is lying. Truth can be anything you make it to be. Its hard to determine what truth is. Truth is different for everyone. With truth comes trust and if there is no trust then their is no truth.
I believe the word truth has many meanings, such as honest, reliable and facts. Michael Levy once said,” You can bend it and twist it... You can misuse and abuse it... But even God cannot change the Truth.” I believe this is correct. You can abuse and misuse the truth all sorts of ways. The truth is something that people rely on or know is correct, by information provided by facts of honesty. People can try changing truth by many angles, but the majority is if the truth has facts and is reliable how do you change that? For instance a citizen goes to court for a certain crime disrespectful act and is charged, and wants to tell his side of the story he can try to change the details all he wants. But if there are facts and reliable information there is no way that the truth can be changed unless there is false information. The term truth does not have a distinct definition. Many people can think of what they want to think. In the quote by levy he states that God cannon change the truth. If God cannot change the truth that who can? Many people probably think of truth as many things. I know that word people probably relate to truth and that is rumor. When people hear something they think that right away it’s the truth, but not necessary. For truth to be real it should have facts and honesty. In conclusion truth can be interpreted in many ways but for me truth has many things facts, honesty and reliability.
